The Bill Hosokawa Living Remembrance The Bill Hosokawa Living Remembrance was held at the Newman Center at DU, on February 16th, 2008, before an estimated crowd of 425 persons. Featured speakers were : The Master of Ceremonies, Bob Sakata The Governor of Colorado, Bill Ritter The Ambassador of Japan to the United States, the Honorable Ryozo Kato The President and Publisher of the Rocky Mountain News, Mr. John Temple The Past President of the National JACL, Cressy Nakagawa. Mr. Bob Sakata chaired the Living Memorial Remembering Bill Hosokawa Committee that organized the event. During the presentation, several of Bill’s grandchildren read excerpts from his book, Out of the Flying Pan. Susan Boatright presented thoughts from the family in which she gave us a glimpse of Bill’s private side. She could not be persuaded to reveal the location of their very productive matsutake mushroom hunting grounds. The JAC was among the many JA organizations that sponsored this Remembrance and was well represented on the committee and volunteers who served at the presentation. Below is excepted from the program distributed at the Remembrance.
